Mineral County Tax Information
The Treasurers’ office provides services to you relating to collections, assessing, processing
and paying your personal property tax, real estate taxes and mobile home taxes.
Mineral County collects taxes for many jurisdictions it has no authority over, including
the City, School districts, fire Districts, and other service districts. If
you have a specific question regarding your tax bill, it’s important for you to
call the appropriate jurisdiction for answers to your questions.
Please review some key points of information about our services.
- Mail must be post-marked on or before the due date (November 30th & May
31st) to avoid penalty & Interest costs.
- The Department of Revenue-Assessment and Appraisal Office have moved to Montana
Highway 135 South St. Regis, Montana 59866 They are no longer located within the
County Courthouse- contact them with valuation questions at 406-649-6662 or 406-649-6660

Hours of Operation
Our office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The Tax Office also processes Motor vehicle renewals; and sells drivers License
receipts.
We are also a combined office.

- Real Estate Taxes Due: May 31st & November 30th
- Mobile Home Taxes Due: May 31st & November 30th
- Personal Property Taxes Due: July 31st
Pay your Property Taxes by phone
You can use the property information system to pay your property taxes by phone.
The following key points are important for you when paying your property taxes by
telephone.
- You will have to enter your Tax ID in order for official payments corp. to process
your payment.
- Visa , MasterCard, discover and American express credit cards are accepted. A convenience
fee will be charged.
- The Treasurer’s Office is the collection and distribution center for all taxes in
Mineral County. While the vast majority of taxes are paid on or before the due date,
a substantial effort is made to collect taxes which go delinquent.
- The office handles collection of Miscellaneous business and gambling licenses. It
also receipts all the non-tax revenue by the County.
- It is in the public’s best interest to have any cash invested. That investment responsibility
rests in the Treasurer’s Office. The present investment program is a good one, but
it is constantly being reviewed and improved. An Investment report goes to the County
Commissioner quarterly.
- Record-keeping and reporting are also important functions of the office. Tax and
license payment records are maintained as well as disbursement records. Additionally,
the office is required to do and keep detailed records of school budgets. Reports
from this office go to the State, town of Superior & Alberton, and district Schools,
Fire district and to the county officers.
